Annie and Keith Conger
Annie and Keith are retired public school educators who taught in Brevig Mission and Nome on Alaska’s Seward Peninsula. They have two adult children. The entire family lives in Nome. Annie grew up in Brevig Mission. She and the “kids” are Brevig Mission tribal members. Annie loves spending time at her Grantley Harbor fish camp. She is a fluent Inupiaq speaker working to restore and preserve her language. Keith grew up in Wisconsin and has lived on the Seward Peninsula his entire adult life, 42 years. He has served rural Alaskan skiers at the local, regional, and statewide levels for 22 years. Keith led a King Island kayak-building project in Brevig Mission in the 90s. Annie and Keith are deeply concerned citizens who are actively working to help ensure future food security for the people of the Bering Sea-to-Imuruk Basin Waterway. They are contracted as volunteer consultants by Brevig Mission’s tri-entities (tribe, city, and Native corps).
